White Papers, Reports, etc. are accessed via the an ecommerce storefront. The component in use is J2Store, which uses core Joomla articles to create a store.
The most efficient way to do this is to open the appropriate menu, for example White Papers, and
- create new a new menu item
- provide a title, an alias (which will be the url string and must be unique)
- switch to the page display tab and in page class enter " reportspage storegrid" (note the leading space)
- The back to the first tab (Details) to begin work
- Select Menu Item Type > Article > Single Article
- Choose whether you are creating a new aricle or a re-purposing one.
In the content tab, place cursor on an empty first line and select template (menu tropdown) for "store item" (image)

You should have already prepared a thumbnail for use as a cover image. (This site revision began with 706x913)
A pdf needs to be uploaded by ftp or plesk file manager to the documents/white-papers, /reports, etc. folder for the store to access it.
The Store Item template will create a two-colum layout.
- In the left black, place your image, lexpand the toolbar and find the image icon in the bottom row.
- Upload to the "covers folder" with a useful name with no spaces. eg, "cvr_13hr_shifts_make_no_sense.jpg"
- Enter your promo text in the right column. Include author if known, and the number of pages.
- Set the correct category n the right
- Switch to the "J2Store Cart" tab and "Yes" to Treat as product (usually downloadable)
- Save and continue
- Make up a SKU (it's an identifier and can look like nonsense: WPADV12HRS
- Set the price (Free items 0)
- Select the thumbnail image - the same one you uploaded
- Set the Product File (enter title, select the pdf file from the correct folder, create. Then close the window
- Set the downloads to 100000 to make sure visitors can return and re-download
- Save.
Check your work on the front end.
